However wood is, by its very nature, an organic material that is as individual as a fingerprint. Variations in colour, shading and wood pattern are considered to be an inherent part of the beauty of the wood. Shadings and streaking appears as a result of the life history of the tree, which is influenced by light exposure, rainfall, mineral content in the soil, weather and climate.<\/p>\n

As a result, no two pieces are exactly the same. Conventional stains and paints will conceal most of these natural occurrences, but a clear, natural finish will accentuate the appearance and make the kitchen truly distinctive. Variations will appear on adjacent doors and even on the same door panel. It is also very likely that the original door sample you saw in our showroom will vary from your actual kitchen.<\/p>\n

This is not to discourage you from making wood the material of choice. Rather it is to encourage a clearer understanding of the true beauty of wood \u2013 that it is as unique and individual as you are. Cataraqui Cabinets cannot be responsible for the type of, nor the extent of the variation shown in a natural finish wood kitchen. Wood grain activity and the natural colouring of the lumber are beyond our control.<\/p>\n

Caring For Wood Cabinets<\/h3>\n

Wood offers lasting beauty. Following a few basic guidelines on care and maintenance will preserve and protect the beauty of your new cabinets for years to come.<\/p>\n

    1. The lacquer finish undergoes a hardening process that takes up to three weeks to complete, so during this period wipe spills immediately and avoid excess water when cleaning the surfaces.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/ol>\n

        1. Wipe up spills when they occur using a clean, damp cloth and a mild dishwashing detergent in warm water. Dry the cabinet thoroughly with a dry cloth. Avoid using the dishcloth as grease can be transferred to the cabinet surface.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/ol>\n

            1. Never drape damp tea towels or dish cloths on cabinets or over doors.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/ol>\n

                        1. Seasonal fluctuations in humidity can cause expansion and contraction of the wood which can result in warping or cracking. Try to maintain a consistent humidity level between 40% and 50% to minimize the risk of damage.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/ol>\n
